Description:
Leaves south  San Jose  before dawn.  Riders are quickly out of South San Jose heading for Morgan Hill.  Then cross  through Gilroy and for first control at Hollister on the way to Airline Rd. Enjoy a long low traffic ride past Pinnacles National Park and then a  water/snack stop  at Peachtree Rd.  After 40 more quiet miles, arrive in civilization in Paso Robles. Pass over the coast range via Hwy 46 to Cambria and then south to Morro Bay. Continue by San Luis Obispo to the overnight stop in Santa Maria , which is the overnight control.

Leave Santa Maria around dawn, and follow the whole length of rural Foxen Canyon.  To get to Gaviota – head to Solvang, and take Alisal Road to Nojoqui Summit, where riders join Hwy 101 (generally 8-10′ shoulder) to travel to Goleta and Santa Barbara along the Pacific Ocean.

Goleta bike paths are used, and the route crosses the mesa, to reach Cliff Rd and the Lazy Acres Market above Santa Barbara.   From there, the path to Ventura is well known by local riders. Travel the multi-million dollar beachfront bike path from Bates Rd to Seacliff, instead of riding the highway .  Finally, Wooley Rd goes to the finish in Oxnard.

Registration: TBD

Drop Bags: To accommodate this many riders we will be strict on the drop bag. One drop bag per person, max weight is 20lbs, and no bigger than a small backpack. We will have a scale so if it’s over 20lbs or too large we will not be transporting it. All bags need to be clearly labeled and well contained (i.e. no random items like shoes tied to the outside).

Support: TBD  – We will be doing some amount of support on the course but it may be limited depending on how many volunteers we get. Although this can be ridden as a straight through 600k it’s not recommend as there will be no overnight support south of Santa Maria and bags will not be available in Oxnard until early afternoon on Sunday.

RUSA Rules for RidersLights and reflective gear are required for all riders at the start, at night, and during poor visibility conditions (fog/rain).  These must be kept with you on the bike during the ride.  No rider may use personal sag support between controls.  Riders not following these rules will be disqualified.

Refunds: Registration may be canceled with only a $10 penalty if you are replaced by someone on the waitlist, otherwise it’s 50% of the fee.  No Registration changes or refunds after April 5 at midnight, one week before the ride.
